Recognising that great wines begin in the vineyard, the Young Viticulturist of the Year competition celebrates the future of viticulture. This prestigious competition is open to those aged 30 years and younger and tests the wide range of skills required to be a successful vit.
Following its highly successful debut, WinePro NZ returns in 2026 with exciting new initiatives designed to elevate New Zealand’s premier wine industry event.
With a renewed focus on fostering collaboration, showcasing innovation, and celebrating excellence, WinePro NZ is the essential platform for industry professionals to connect, learn and grow.

Launched in 2015, the competition is open to young people working in wine production roles within the New Zealand wine industry. This includes cellar hands, cellar managers, those working in the laboratory, assistant winemakers, winemakers and if space allows those studying winemaking.
There will be three regional finals in 2026. The winner from each will then go through to represent their region in the National Final. Applications will open early 2026 and location details to come.
