Tonnellerie de Mercurey Young Winemaker of the Year Marlborough competition

Launched in 2015, the competition is open to young people working in wine production roles within the New Zealand wine industry. This includes cellar hands, cellar managers, those working in the laboratory, assistant winemakers, winemakers and if space allows those studying winemaking. 

There will be three regional finals in 2026. The winner from each will then go through to represent their region in the National Final. Applications will open early 2026 and location details to come.

Organic Winegrowers New Zealand EcoVineyards Tour with Dr Mary Retallack

Organic Winegrowers NZ will bring Dr Mary Retallack to NZ for regional workshops within our major wine producing regions. 

Each workshop will consist of a morning of theoretical knowledge on functional biodiversity, vineyard and soil health of vineyards followed by a practical session after lunch. 

Growers will take home knowledge and tools to allow them to start monitoring and use practices to track biodiversity, vine and soil health within their own vineyards.​

Grower Session in Wairau - Mothballing and alternatives

Deciding whether to continue full vineyard operations, mothball a vineyard, or remove vines is a complex decision involving economic, operational, and site-specific considerations.

To support growers, Wine Marlborough and Bragato Research Institute (BRI) are hosting a free information session to discuss a new vineyard decision-making guide developed by BRI, followed by a catch up/networking in the Wine Centre Foyer.

Representatives from BRI, the NZW Environment Team, consultant viticulturists, growers, Rural Support Trust, and Wine Marlborough will share their experience, knowledge, and available support.

All are welcome. Feel free to bring your partner, neighbour, or fellow grape grower. Please register by midday on 9 June for catering purposes.

For an entry fee of 12 bottles, your wine will embark on a race through the stunning Marlborough Sounds on board a designated racing yacht. Marlborough Winegrowers Association AGM

Members are encouraged to join the chair and members of the board at the Annual General Meeting for the organisation. The board will speak to the key achievements for the year, present the audited accounts and speak to the state of the industry.

Fabian Yukich, Chair of New Zealand Winegrowers will also be in attendance and is available to discuss any matters arising with members.

The AGM will be held at the NZ Wine Centre Lobby and will be followed by a wine tasting of a selection of Marlborough Wine Show Gold Medal wines and canapés.

The audited accounts of the organisation will be made available to members prior to the meeting once finalised by the auditor, Crowe, as will the Agenda, Minutes of the last meeting and Annual Report at the same time.

Speakers from NZ Wine, local landowners, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research invite you to attend this workshop.

  • How to stop CNG and Nassella spreading from property to property and into catchments.

  • Hear about strategies other landowners in NZ and Australia have used to manage/reduce/eradicate CNG from their properties.

  • Learn about the progress on biocontrol research, plans for spreading it and how landowners can get involved.

  • Scope reinvigorating the local CNG action group. 

Following the workshop there will be opportunity to socialise at Cosy Corner on a Friday night before the spring workload kicks in, nibbles provided.
