Chardonnay Wine Review with John Saker 2025New Zealand wine writer John Saker is into his third annual tasting/newsgathering cycle for his subscription wine newsletter, Te Whenua. He says he's been thrilled by the support and subscription uptake over the first two years. (You can subscribe to Te Whenua by going to johnsaker.com).
He'll be in Marlborough to visit and taste current release chardonnay on 11 November 2025.
John's tasting MO is unchanged: "I taste the wines (NZ PInot Noir and Chardonnay) blind, spending time over each. I don't not score the wines but those expressions that really impress me I put aside. These wines will be included in a category called 'The List' and will be featured in the newsletter with notes on each."
There is no cost to enter the upcoming Te Whenua tasting, which is for Chardonnay (vintage 2021 being the cutoff). If a wine was entered in the tasting last year, it should not be resubmitted.
For those wishing to enter please send your entries to Wine Marlborough, 85 Budge Street, Blenheim by 5 pm Thursday 6 November. If you are dropping samples in by hand, there is no need to package the wines.
