What’s your name and what do you do at cellar door?

Hello! My name is Sarah Lee Whyte and I am a cellar door ambassador at Yealands.

What do you enjoy most about your day at the cellar door?

What I enjoy most about working at the cellar door is being part of an amazing fun team and welcoming guests from all over the world. I love connecting with people, sharing my passion for wine, and introducing them to the beauty of the Marlborough region.

What makes a great cellar door experience?

A great cellar door experience is all about making guests feel welcome, comfortable, and well looked after. I love tailoring each tasting to their individual tastes and preferences, while sharing a few new things about wine along the way. For me, the best experiences are when guests leave feeling happy, having discovered something new, and with an even greater appreciation for wine.

What’s your favourite time of year in Marlborough?

My favourite time of year in Marlborough is late summer through to autumn, when the grapes are ripening and getting ready for harvest. There’s something special about this time of year, especially in late March and April, when the vineyard leaves turn from vibrant orange to deep red, creating such beautiful colours across the region.
